Perfect for busy evenings, this recipe combines protein rich tofu, fresh vegetables, and a tantalizing spicy citrus sauce 🌶️ It’s a healthy meal that doesn’t compromise on taste. Serve over rice and finish with sesame seeds and green onions for an irresistible dinner that everyone will love!
Ingredients4 Servings
- 1 block of firm or extra firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 small carrots, thinly sliced
- 1 orange, juiced
- A pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper, for heat
- 1 TBSP honey
- 2 TBSP of low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 TBSP olive oil
- Garnish: sesame seeds and sliced green onion
Directions:
1
In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
2
In the same pan, add the remaining olive oil. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Then, add the cabbage, bell pepper, and carrots. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
3
In a small bowl, mix the orange juice, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and honey to make the spicy citrus sauce. Return the tofu to the pan, pour the sauce over the stir-fry, and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Serve hot over brown rice and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onion.
Notes:
- Feel free to use or add other citrus fruit such as lemon, lime or tangerines for the spicy citrus sauce.
- You can also use pre-shredded or julienned carrots to reduce prep time.
- Feeling extra colorful 🌈 Add some red cabbage to the mix for more vibrancy.
Bon appétit and enjoy 🥰 ☀️
Sounds delicious. Would LOVE if you could provide nutritional values for your recipes. Thanks!
I added some orange , cilantro and cheese on top . I can’t wait for more recipes. Thanks
Delicious!!! Thank you YUKA team , sending you love and positive vibes from Long Island -NY . Thank you to your app I’m able to understand how much damage I was causing to my body consuming bad staff , today my daughter is vegan but I’m not 💯 but love to share recipes like this one with her . You all are amazing . Blessings 🙏🏼
My dear Yuka i’m looking forward to trying these recipes.
I found it tasted a little flat – added salt, pepper (more than the salt), some mediterranean herb mix. To my taste, it was better. Also added sautéd mushrooms. Really liked the wholesome, healthy ingredients and taste. Next time I will added dried tomatoes – and maybe dried shredded unsweetened coconut.
I finally made this recipe. Delicious! Couldn’t fine oranges so I substituted with lemon. I will definitely make this again.
I tried the recipe. I could not get the tofu to brown in spite of adequate oil. Otherwise it was tasty. Thanks.
This was delicious! We loved it!
Thanks for sharing your feedback 🤩
Delicious 😋
Thank you 🤩
What could I substitute for tofu?
These all sound delicious
You can substitute it with another protein of your liking!
Yummy
🥰 Thank you!
I noticed two of the recipes you kindly shared have soy sauce in them. Soy sauce triggers my migraines – can you add substitutes ? Thanks for creating the Yuka app / its been very useful
Coconut Aminos perhaps
So happy to hear that you are enjoying the Yuka app 🥕 You could use tamari sauce or coconut aminos!
I will definitely try this recipe. I will grate my tofu though, that way my husband doesn’t realize that he is eating tofu 😂 😉
Nice 😂
I will try this recipe. Thanks.
Thank you for the recipe. I will try.
Scrumptious
Thank you for the recipe. I will definitely try it but will leave out the oil. Please do some research and find out oil that has been removed from the fruit is not good for you.
Do let us know how you like it and what substitution you make!
We just made and devoured this recipe. Wow. Delicious! We substituted liquid aminos for the soy sauce. Also added more red pepper flakes.
Can’t believe how great this tastes Thanks for the awesome idea. I enjoy eating recipes that taste amazing without eating animals. People forget that the protein you get from animals comes from the protein in the plants that they eat.. I actually put my tofu in an air fryer, which is less work and doesn’t stick to the pan
Thank you for sharing your tip about the air fryer!
These recipes sound great. I willbe trying them. Thanks!
I really like your app. I share it at the grocers all the time!!
Thank you 🥰
Sounds so yummy. I believe you could use chicken instead of tofu?
Feel free to substitute chicken if you prefer!
Very nice my favorite thanks for recipe.
Thanks! Another one I will try😁
Can’t wait to hear how you like it 🥕
Will definitely try it this week. Looks easy and delish.
May I make a recommendation though? Can you add a “Print” button to the recipes in the future? Thanks!
Thank you for your recommendation!
These are all vegetarian recipes. I am a low carb person and these are too high carb for me. But enjoy some low carb meals would meet
Thank you for your feedback! Please feel free to swap out the tofu for another protein of your liking. Another lower carb vegetable could be used in place of the carrots – broccoli or mushrooms for example.
Looks yummy I must try to make it hopefully it comes out as good as yours.
Let us know how it goes, we would love to hear your feedback! 😃
